Nursery

Stop by and meet our new Nursery Director, Katie Franke.

As parents, one of the most nerve wracking parts of attending a church, is dropping your child off in the nursery. You are never sure how it's going to go...will they cry...are they going to be okay...

We are committed at Wanamaker Woods to provide your children with a high quality nursery experience. You can relax knowing your children are safe, loved, and are given a gentle caring introduction to Jesus as their best friend.

Children are divided into four age groups ranging from birth to four years of age, with a small group class available to our three year olds. Parents are provided a pager, assigned to their family, which will alert them if there are any issues, or questions.

Ultimately a nursery cannot be a success without you. Alongside our dedicated nursery staff, we also encourage parents to serve once every eight weeks. This is less about volunteering and more about giving you an opportunity to meet other parents with kids your age, and also give you the chance to play and learn, and see Jesus through your child's eyes.

What to Bring

When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

  • two or three disposable diapers (no cloth diapers, please)
  • a complete change of clothes
  • bottle of milk, formula, juice or water (this is a good practice even for mothers who nurse)
  • Please label all personal items (including pacifiers and sippee cups) with your child's first and last name before arriving at your child's class. This helps us keep track of your child's items.
  • Check-In and Pick-Up

At the time of check-in, you will register your child and apply an adhesive nametag to your child's back with his or her name on it, and label the diaper bag. You will be given a pager that has an identifying number on it. The pager will vibrate, so please hold or wear the pager at all times.

An Early Childhood worker will meet you at the door to receive your child, diaper bag and any other necessary items. Please note on the sign-in sheet any information that will help in caring for your child, such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies, potty training and special needs.

At Pick-up, please present the pager upon return to your child's classroom. We will verify that your security badge matches the number on your child's nametag and then we’ll release your child to you. A child will not be released to a parent without presentation of the pager or proper identification.

Please make sure that all of your child's personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises.

    Parent Pagers

Hand-held vibrating pagers will be provided one per family, to the parent signing in the child. If you have children in separate rooms, you will receive one pager, and the number will be assigned to each child.

Please keep the pager on you at all times. In the event of an emergency or any problem involving the child, the pager will vibrate to alert the parent to return to the child’s room to assist with the child’s care and welfare. Please note, the pager's radius is only within the church building, therefore do not leave the premises without your child.

    Snacks

Snacks are provided for our new walkers, tots and tykes. The food items consist of water or sugar-free lemonade and a few animal crackers. If your child has an allergy please inform the leader when you check in your child.

    ”Sick Child” Policy

For the sake of the other children and the Early Childhood workers, children should not:

  • Currently have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher
  • Have a temperature within the last 24 hours
  • Have vomited within the last 24 hours
  • Have had diarrhea within the last 24 hours
  • Have a runny nose with green or yellow drainage
  • Have a contagious air-born condition such as chicken pox, measles, strep throat or Rosella, etc.
  • No medication – including Tylenol, will be given by Early Childhood workers. If a child must have medication, it should be kept and administered by the parent as needed.
